From 15 July to 19 July 2024, XX number of Staff Domain employees enthusiastically participated in the company’s sports event of the year, the 2024 Staff Domain Olympics. Titled ‘Outsmart, Outplay, Outlast’, work-from-home and on-site employees engaged in the week-long line of events and games filled with friendly competition and camaraderie to become the champions of this 2024 Olympics.
Igniting the competitive spirit with indoor games
The preliminary rounds, semi-finals, and finals for various games were held throughout the week. The office buzzed with energy as employees competed in classic Filipino games like sungka, jackstones, and pickup sticks. Additional games, including foosball, billiards, chess, and hula-hoop, added to the fun. Even outdoor childhood games were brought indoors, with employees enjoying chinese garter, and ten twenty. For online gaming enthusiasts, Mobile Legends was also available, with a mix of online and offline staff joining in on the game.
Exciting games at the SM Megamall Bowling Center
The excitement continued at the SM Megamall Bowling Center, where employees showcased their skills in Bowling and Table Tennis. The atmosphere was electric as colleagues cheered each other on. The bowling lanes were filled with laughter and good-natured rivalry as participants raced for the highest scores.
For table tennis, the competition was intense as players competed in several rounds in the preliminaries, semi-finals, and finals. Players demonstrated impressive agility and quick reflexes as they battled for the top spot.
Battle of the Vipers and Tigers
The highlight of the Olympics was undoubtedly the showdown between the Valiant Vipers and Tenacious Tigers. This eagerly anticipated competition saw employees split into two formidable teams, each with their respective muses cheering them on. The main events included thrilling matches of basketball, badminton, and volleyball where participants showcased their athleticism and determination to win.
The eliminations, semi-finals, and finals were fiercely contested. The basketball games were particularly intense, the volleyball matches equally gripping, and the badminton tournament dynamically competitive.
Words from the founders
The founders of Staff Domain shared inspiring messages about camaraderie, active participation, and the importance of having fun.
“This event is very important because we’re going to play all these games as a team. And the acronym TEAM means together, everyone achieves more. So, when we talk about sports fest, we talk about people working together as a team,” Chief Financial Officer Ben shared.
Emphasising the significance of active listening, Chief Executive Officer Ben Pavsic stated, “The other thing that I would encourage you to do today is also to listen actively to the people that organised the event and to your teammates. Active listening is so important in life, in business, on this playing field, as much as every part of your life. So, I encourage you guys to do that.”
Overall, the game aims to foster relationships. Ben mentioned, “These games that we’re having today are to foster relationships… What we want to do is to build strong relationships, and this plays into other things that we will do later on.”
